Active farming sequence

Keep Smokie in the loop

The partner skill must be available during the mining run. Do not treat Smokie as a passive box bonus.

01 / PARTNER

Get Smokie

Catch or breed Smokie and add it to the active party used for your Feybreak mining run.

02 / PARTNER

Unlock and craft the Harness

At Technology Level 56, spend 3 points and craft Smokie’s Harness.

03 / PARTNER

Enter a Chromite cave

Travel to a curated Feybreak cave and keep Smokie active outside its sphere.

At the node: Use the partner skill near buried deposits, then mine the Chromite after it appears.

When Smokie wins

Detection plus mining efficiency

Smokie is the stronger dedicated Chromite companion because the same setup that reveals a deposit can also improve its yield. Condensation raises the partner-skill level, but this guide avoids a fixed “Chromite per node” promise: balance changes and game settings make one universal number unreliable.

The trade-off is the active Pal slot. If another Pal is essential to your travel, protection, or weight setup, the Metal Detector lets you keep that party composition.

Smokie questions

What level unlocks Smokie’s Harness?

Smokie’s Harness unlocks at Technology Level 56 for 3 Technology Points. This is separate from the Metal Detector, which current 1.0 data places at Level 58.

How does Smokie find Chromite?

Craft the Harness, keep Smokie active outside its sphere, and trigger Dig, Dog! Dig! near buried Chromite. The skill reveals nearby deposits so you can mine them.

Does condensing Smokie increase Chromite yield?

Higher partner-skill levels can increase the amount gained from a node. This site does not promise one fixed number because skill level and game balance can change.

Do I still need a Metal Detector when using Smokie?

No. Smokie can perform the detection role after you craft its Harness. The Metal Detector remains useful when you want another Pal active.
